I was lucky enough to be asked to work with Debbie Bliss yarn ‘Aymara’
and give my feedback. I found this yarn to be super soft, and an absolute
delight to work with and it drapes beautifully. This yarn has a very different
twist to the Cashmerino yarn, so I designed something a little rustic, which I
feel is suitable for this yarn. Would make a great shawl, sweater, cardigan….
just about anything, as it is super soft to wear next to the skin.
Alpaca wool has long been used as
a substitute for conventional sheep wool in the knitting of garments. The
fibers are stronger and softer than sheep wool and contain no lanolin. Because
of this, people with sensitivities to sheep’s wool or lanolin find alpaca
fibers to be easier on the skin. Not only is alpaca
fur given a Class 1 rating by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
thanks to its flame resistant nature, but the fact that alpaca fleece is also
somewhat moisture wicking makes it a lightweight alternative to sheep’s wool
and a warm alternative to cotton. All in all a great yarn to work with.
I have designed a pattern which will be
available for FREE on LoveCrafts Knitting, for a
period of one month only. This pattern will be
available in the next few days and updates will be posted on the following
